Lauren and Terry

This is one of my favorite photos of me and my husband, Terry. This was taken the summer of 2002 when we were on a weekend away. I think the style of the photo is very Klimt-like. I've decided that I'm going to work on an art quilt of the photo in that style. I love Klimt and think it will be a fun piece to have. It will be odd to work on something that I won't ever sell.

Terry and I will be celebrating our 11th wedding anniversary on the 28th of December of this year. He was a mere 29 in this picture, I was 39. That is a flying ladybug on my shoulder (which I got after I left my first husband, because I wanted something on my body that he had never seen before!).

My Journal Quilt

This is my Journal Quilt which was recently exhibited in Houston, Texas. I've always wanted a poppy to use for my business cards since my studio name is Painted Poppy Studio. This was the perfect excuse to make it. I'm still trying to locate my artist's statement to add here.

Art Quilts currently available by Lauren Fureymoore~

Please give art a good home~

This 16" by 20" art quilt just came home from four shows including Cannery Row Studios, The Quilt Fest of New Jersey, Las Primeras Auziliary Quilt Exhibit and The Loft Gallery. It was made for an art quilt challenge entitled "Doing Small Things With Great Love". I chose to do a piece about breastfeeding, as I've breastfed my fourth children and found in the most meaningful thing I could do for them. My sister in law and nephew gladly posed for me to take photos.

Fabrics include hand dyed cottons, commercial cottons, silk roving, hand marbled fabric, hand felted wool, glass and opalite beads. The title is a quote from Shakespeare. The opalite beads are what inspired this creation, because I stumbled across them in a bead store and knew that they would be perfect droplets of breast milk!

I love working with fabrics, buttons, beads and other mysterious found objects. Embellished art quilts are the perfect medium for me and everything I love just comes together perfectly!I would love to see this hanging in a obstetrician or midwife's office! $365 Shipping is free in the United States or Canada~
